I forgot about the top three rules of thumb
I forgot about this part so if it doesn't count anymore that's okay. At least I did it.
1. "Research and understand what technology is available in your teaching subject area." Kate

I am finding out computers aren't so bad after all. I still need more practice with them, but it's kind of fun to look and see what is available to help me with my teaching. I cannot wait to learn more so I will be better prepared and feel more comfortable with putting things together.
After reading the very long article about technology and all that is offered in schools I found out how important technology is in schools these days. One example that I really thought was neat was the "Microcomputer-Based Labortatory in Creek Biology". The fact the students were able to get immediate results from the water samples that the took is just amazing. They were able to know the pH, oxygenation and other measures of health in the creek that in past took days to complete the data.
I wish I would have been able to have some type of experience like that. I never took a computer class in school. They were not as stressed as they are now. They were not in the classrooms when I was in elementary school as they are now. After a lot of thinking I was able to come up with some form of technology. I used a graphing calculator in my trigometery class so I think that might could be considered technology. My teacher Mr. Fritz used those a lot. They helped plot information a lot quicker than having to do it all out by hand.
I wish my teachers would have used more technology but is hasn't been until recently that computers and technology became a big deal. They might be using them more now and helping students more. I know my younger siblings are getting alot more technology opportunities in their classes so things are changing and they are improving the classroom experience. It just wasn't as good when I was there.
After reading the article "Mindtools" from blackboard I learned many things.
First that Computer support knowledge and learning. So in a class room the would be a benefit, especially with all the new softward and programs that are out there and avilable for all to use.
It also mentioned all that mindtools are not intended to make things completely easier, but the help us to think harder and more complex about the matter of domain we are studying. They will help us understand concepts clearer and help us to not forget them in the long run but really learn them. Computers and technology are there for our benefit.
